An intimate meeting with my Yoga

Over the last years, I sort of lost my love for yoga. Not in the philosophy and basics of what yoga in essence is. For me, yoga is only and just simply about life. That has always been there.

But the Western tendency towards a gymnastic form of yoga and a spiritual seeking to attain a future condition drove me away from the real joy of yoga. Reading books and magazines about a path towards happiness etc. (always in 7 steps) are so disempowering. What’s wrong with who you are right now. You already are so perfect as you are! Who has the authority to tell you that you’re not!

And then, last month in Ubud, Bali, I met my dear friend and teacher Mark Whitwell. During the yoga teacher training I attended, in just two breaths, I refound my deep joy and freedom in yoga. Naturally, by breathing, and feeling the joy of movement in that breath. “Breath is the movement, and movement is the breath.”

My life sometimes was so much based on giving, that I often forgot to receive. And here, so unexpected, in this flow, space arises for real receptivity. So simple, so deep, so intimate with life, I often was in tears.

I’m so honored to step in the lineage of Krishnamacharya, U.G. Krishnamurti, Desikachar and Mark, and to start sharing the Heart of Yoga, together with my inspiring partner Juliette. Here in The Netherlands at our Retreat Center The Land of Now with retreats and masterclasses for teachers. And all over the world, wherever there is a possibility to share the authentic teachings of Krishnamacharya. Because we believe in a world that embraces all polarities in life, a world free of dogmas. Just intimacy with life.

Love,
Frank
