The power of a daily yoga practice

Nowadays yoga is mainly practiced in groups. In a yoga studio, outside in the park, or at the gym. Originally yoga is taught individually, according to who you are.
Tailored to your possibilities, cultural or religious background and age. Ayurveda plays a major role in this. Your constitution, with your mental and physical condition and any imbalance give direction to the practice.

Authentic yoga teaching therefore takes place in a personal relationship between a student and mentor. The daily practice is central to authentic yoga. A personal practice tailored to you, integrating the full principles of yoga. A practice that you do in the safety of your own environment.

In this, authentic yoga goes beyond the physical imitation of a pose that is demonstrated, so that yoga can be embodied and lived. Yoga enables you to experience or improve the quality of your life and relationships. The difference between going to a yoga class or your daily practice is like being driven around in a car versus learning to drive yourself. In your daily practice you develop strength to receive not only yourself, but also all other people and experiences in life: intimate with life.

Do you not (yet) have a teacher who can personally guide you on the yoga path, but do you want to start with a daily practice?

8 tips

for a safe and daily yoga practice

  1. Set a time for your daily practice.
  2. Pick a length of time that is achievable and, above all, enjoyable. Long is not always better.
  3. Avoid any kind of struggle or performance.
Struggle and achievement are expressions of the mind. Your essence is already complete and present.
  4. Focus on ‘ embodiment’ : experiencing your body, breath and who you are.
  5. Choose a few simple asanas that you perform with full attention within the movement of your breath. Your breath is leading. Are you out of breath or are you holding your breath?
Take a step back. (more about breathing: read here )
  6. End with Shavasana.
  7. Do you have time left? Do a gentle balancing Pranayama like Nadi Shodhana.
  8. Then sit in silence for a while so that meditation can arise.

Make a commitment to do your daily practice for 40 days. And only then look back at what it has done for you. Do you have questions or do you want to learn more? Please feel free to contact us.
